The Best Amiibo Prices for Black Friday (2025)

by Doc – Owner, Founder, Guy Who Likes Amiibo Economics Too Much

It’s that time of year where corporate executives are furiously mashing F5 – not to buy new amiibo releases the second they come out, but rather to check and see if you’ve bought new amiibo releases the second they come out.

However, buying new amiibo these days is pretty pricey, so here’s my recommendations on where to go for cheap, great Black Friday and Christmas amiibo deals.

Local Gamestop and Target

This one isn’t really a website, we’ll get to those. Many Gamestops are still selling Wii U-era reprinted amiibo for $13 or $16, far cheaper than the $20 they’re now going for. Check brick and mortar first! I picked up Smash series Rosalina for $16 at Target just the other day. (I’d personally recommend getting Gamestop Pro, as the $25/year cost is pretty well outpaced by the $5/month discount, and the cashback options are useful too.)

Best Buy Website

Best Buy’s been consistently one of the best places to get amiibo for a long time now, as while they tend to overprice items for a while when it comes time for Black Friday they cut ’em and cut ’em fast. Right now most of the Legend of Zelda stuff is available for far less than MSRP on the website, so I’d check them out first. The new, Switch 2-era amiibo are still at their very expensive MSRPs, so you’re out of luck there, but you’ll be out of luck on those everywhere you look.

Gamestop Website

Gamestop is cashing out a lot of old amiibo inventory, especially Zelda, for MSRP. If you’re buying amiibo for Smash, don’t forget that a lot of non-Smash series amiibo work in Smash and are dirt cheap – especially Metroid Dread. If you’re buying for kids, Gamestop should be your first place to go.

Target Website

Target’s noticeably higher-priced than Gamestop, but you’ll find many of the same old amiibo at MSRP that you would at Gamestop. They don’t have the cheaper options (Target refuses to stock anything old) that Gamestop does, but at the very least you’ll be able to find something at Target if it’s sold out at Gamestop. Just remember… any amiibo over $20 or $25, tops, is overpriced, and you shouldn’t get it.

Is Walmart Any Good?

No. Walmart’s website has always been one of the worst places to buy any collector’s items, be it Pokemon cards, amiibo, whatever. Walmart’s store lets third parties sell single items on there almost like it’s eBay, and because Walmart.com gets so much traffic they overcharge like crazy. I’ve seen amiibo that just released and are still on shelves for $16 get sold for $40 on Walmart because grandpas and grandmas don’t know what Gamestop or Target is, but they know Walmart.

Stay away from buying amiibo at Walmart, they’re never less than MSRP and rarely at MSRP.

Best of luck out there!
