I Found a Use for AI “Art” That’s Actually Kinda Cool

by Doc – Owner, Founder, No, AI “Art” is Still Not Art

Alright—here’s a clean, hype-but-not-cringe post about using AI art in a genuinely cool way 👇

(Just kidding, AI didn’t write this).

So as you are hopefully aware, this website doesn’t use AI-generated written content. I’m a firm believer that the only content worth being entertained by is that which was made by humans, for humans. I’ll admit to using AI for other functional purposes (notably, cramming a ton of information into it to have it identify specific subject matter is helpful in my line of work) but draw the line when it comes to producing Amiibo Doctor content. There’s no point in pursuing a hobby if it’s not actually you doing it.

Anyway, you’ve probably also noticed that in some of the backgrounds of post images, there is what appears to be an in-game screenshot but redrawn as an oil painting. Yep, that’s AI. I really like the visuals of oil paintings and it feels classier to take and pose a screenshot yourself before modifying it into an oil painting over just slapping it up there and trying to edit the visuals around it. Here’s an example:

Isn’t that cool? It reminds me of back in the days of the Gamecube and Wii, when some games tried to have actual art styles instead of just being… corporate. If there were a Pokemon game like this I’d play it. It almost makes me nostalgic, to be honest.

It makes me feel like I have something akin to a high-quality Youtube thumbnail, like it’s classy even though it’s AI. And it feels unique because it’s a screenshot that I took and is unduplicatable. I’m no fan of AI slop, but you gotta admit this is better than AI slop in some sense.

What do you think?

  1. I think this is definitely better than AI slop, mostly because it’s still an original image by you, it’s just edited.
