“Cosmic Stockpile” is the Funniest Tera Raid Strategy

by Doc – Owner, Founder, Forgot Stockpile Existed

Remember in the Hoenn region how like three Pokemon could learn Stockpile, so you never used it and never quite understood what it did? Yeah, turns out that’s one of the best moves in Tera Raids.

I’ve written about the Best Moves in Tera Raids already as suggestions for intermediate raiders to start producing their own builds, and Cosmic Power is far and away the best defensive move in the game. It’s a one-stage boost to Def and Sp. Def, boosting your defensiveness by 50% both ways. Problem is, aside from Jirachi, Deoxys and a few other top-tier raiders almost nobody learns it. Cosmic Power’s so good that one use of it often makes you practically invincible so long as you don’t put the controller down and take a nap, but because nobody has it it’s largely irrelevant when building a raider!

Well, I can’t believe it took me this long to realize, but Stockpile is basically exactly the same move as Cosmic Power. While you can only use it three times in a raid, it’s the same exact stat boost as Cosmic Power! It’s practically a clone move besides that three-use limit. If you really wanted to, you could use Spit Up or Swallow to expel your stat boosts and do damage or heal yourself to reset the x3 counter, but the benefit from that is nowhere near as large a benefit as having that kind of stat boost under your belt. You’re best off keeping a Stockpile under your belt at all times, and then dropping two of them after your stats get reset. Just keep a mental count of how many Stockpiles you’ve used.

I’ve not added this build to the tier list yet, but I figured out a way to make Seviper a viable Tera Raider (not a great one, but a usable one) thanks to his access to Stockpile and Swords Dance. So long as Seviper gets a Stockpile up before he takes an attack, he’s in decent shape for most of the rest of the raid. Seviper! Of all things, the worm-snake thing can be made a usable Tera Raider. Who’d’ve thought?

Anyway, I’m calling this strat, the usage of Stockpile instead of Cosmic Power, the Cosmic Stockpile strat.
