Mini figurines have always been a bit of an obsession with gamers alllll the way back to the NES days (if you don’t believe me, go read Supper Mario Broth and see their posts on the weird Mario stuff from the 80s) and amiibo capitalized on that quite well, especially with the unofficial “8-bit” series of amiibo.

Well, it seems Fangamer, the very cool and hip merch store, has come out with a product that looks a lot like the official 8-bit amiibo line from back in the day. Take a gander:

Of course, these don’t function as amiibo – they lack any functionality in an official way and don’t have the chips necessary to make them work. But you’ve gotta admit, that design can’t be a coincidence! Anybody can put a figurine on a round base and call it a fanmade amiibo, but this feels a lot more inspired than the typical 3D-printed garbage you’d find on Etsy. Fangamer usually sells good stuff, so if this is your sort of thing, go give it a look.
