As you’ve certainly noticed over the last 18 months, I’ve had a bit of an on-again off-again obsession with TCG Card Shop Simulator. There’s been a real lack of quality content about it since its release (and most of the content that stuck around was about the now-defunct min-max strategy to make money, which is lame) so I took it upon myself to sink my teeth in and get some editorial work going. If you’ve come here by reading the Kinda Complete Guide I wrote, welcome to Amiibo Doctor.
Hard to believe it’s been almost a year and a half! The last few updates, though sparse, have been pretty good ones. My personal favorite was adding grading, which made singles cards suddenly a lot more viable as a money-making strategy and also pretty immersive. I’d find myself letting the game run AFK for a few days just so I could get my cards back and see the grades. Adding tournaments was cool and a decent way to boost play tables as something more than ugly furniture, and the 1.0 update added a fully functional TCG in the TCG store simulator! I’d play the TCG more but to be honest, the current UI is very cumbersome and annoying. It’s hard to build a deck when you have thousands of individual cards to flip through, they’re not very readable and you can’t easily see what’s evolving from what. I think after I make enough progress in my current playthrough, I’ll put it aside for a month and let OPNeon do some work on it.
One thing I’ll say to anyone looking to join the OPNeon (that’s the publisher) Discord server is best advised to go elsewhere. The mods are typical Discord mod-types. I was in there for 45 minutes before deciding my time was better spent elsewhere. Trust me, you’re best off not going.
