by Doc – Owner, Founder, #3 on the Leaderboard but #1 in your heart
For the last few months, I’ve had a Pokemon Trainer amiibo in the #2 spot on the Amiibots Leaderboards. This wasn’t a PT (Pokemon Trainer) I had put a lot of research into: I was just testing out the Moonwalk Method and trying my hand at a more diversified playstyle after having done nothing with PT for a few years. You can watch me train it here:
This PT found itself in the #2 spot after a few weeks of climbing the leaderboards, and stayed there since its initial placement sometime in June. I left it up because I disagree with the common tactic of removing a high-placing amiibo as soon as it reaches a top 3 spot, which is something trainers will do so they can secure bragging rights without having to sustain that performance. It’s better to leave the best amiibo on top so other people have benchmarks by which to measure their performance.
Well, it finally happened. My Pokemon Trainer got bumped down to the #3 spot by a pretty solid contender:

That’s quite the leapfrog over the second best PT, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Pokemon Trainer is one of my favorite amiibo, and if there’s one thing I love to see in the amiibo meta it’s watching people improve on it over time. That’s what it’s all about! So congratulations to Zoom for taking up the mantle of Pokemon Trainer Trainer, and I can’t wait to catch some replays of Skyler.
